we started talking about the zoo because on ~~our second day as an old married couple~~ monday, jonathan and i are going to the zoo and say hi to the monkeys.

i had completely forgotten about dikdiks until i saw mel stringer's gorgeous dikdik badges.

talking about zoos, i have been addicted to this game for far too long (there's also an app for this game. duhh)

Last Christmas

(mao and) i decorated our christmas tree last week.

although i prefer real trees over the plastic ones, it felt like the right choice to make since the cats prefer to destroy it anyway. i don't mind, it's fun to see mao acting silly with the decoration!

(lately, gaarne is really really sweet. she just sniffs the decorations & sleeps most of the time. she even slept on my lap!)

meanwhile i listened to the she & him christmas album, perfect soundtrack for putting up decorations if you ask me!

today, i finally finished our wedding invitations. i'm pretty happy with the result but i'm sure i'll keep wanting to change things...

the 6th of december we celebrate sinterklaas in belgium (and also in holland). sinterklaas is like santa, and brings presents and candy to sweet kids.

jonathan and i like to give each other little presents, just for fun.

i bought him new slippers, a chocolate egg and a surprise playmobil pack.

he, on the other hand bought these amazing gifts!!

i must admit he knows me too well. ponies, princesses, ... i'm a little child when it comes to cute toys.

i don't really like christmas songs (i prefer listening to julie london, sinatra and billie holiday during the christmas season) but you just can't ignore this song, can you:

american post-rock band if these trees could talk is touring in april next year and i had the honor to design the tourposter!

i have to say i'm pretty proud of this one, especially since they're one of my favorite postrock bands!
plus, they're coming to dunk! festival which couldn't make me happier.

looking forward to 2012, exciting times ahead!

after coming home from work this afternoon, i went straight to bed.
i felt so tired and i was cold so i felt like crawling under warm covers.
mao came to join me and warmed my frozen feet.

i bought some snake print pants but jonathan is not a big fan...
he says i look like this lady:

she's a character in a flemish "comedy" called FC De Kampioenen.
it's ~~probably~~ the dumbest show on earth.
still loving the pants though...

after many many months of waiting, spotify is finally available in belgium!
too bad i can't use it because long ago i made an account and subscribed as a UK citizen.
i can't log in anymore because i keep getting an error that i'm located in the wrong country and i need to buy a premium account to change my profile settings.
which, i thought, was no big deal at all until it turned out spotify won't accept my credit card.
AND i can't pay with paypal because now you need to link a credit card to your paypal account in order to make transactions.

so bummed out...

i am trying to play bass.
my friend wouter came by today to teach me some basics and gave me some great tips.
can't wait to get my very own bass guitar.

about a week and a half ago i came home sick from work.
since then i spent all my time in bed.
today is the first day i feel good enough to put on some clothes instead of my pyjamas, wear some make up and clean the house a bit.
i had a lot of time to catch up on some reading.
a couple of weeks ago i started reading extremely loud and incredibly close by safran foer, but for some reason i put it down again because i couldn't really focus. i finished it in 2 days...
sadly i had to miss the codes in the clouds show AND the ascent of everest's show, they were both playing in ghent this week.

i'm spending the day in my bedroom, it's about 29°C in the livingroom and i can't open any windows because it just gets even more hot inside when i do... (and also, Gaarne my cat would just jump out on the roof to chase pigeons).
the bedroom is the coolest place in the house, and i love to draw on the bed while listening to music.
mao is keeping me company, as usual.
i can't help taking pictures of him while he sleeps though, he's so cute!

☁ this book, by anders nilsen, is one of the best graphic novels/comics i've read so far.

highly recommended, especially for bird lovers :)

☁ the pillow with the lady and the creature, on my drawing above, is a pillowcase by camilla engman.

☁ the song i'm singing along to, is the song "i'd rather listen to weston" by youth pictures of florence henderson. one of my favorite songs to listen to when it's hot and sunny outside.

my sweet friend lien & i went shopping for the wedding today!

i can't really tell you what's in the yellow bag, because i'd like to keep it as a surprise for the wedding day itself.

after our little shopping spree, we went for coffee/tea at this nice coffeehouse called café labath.

i've heard a lot of things about it, but after going there today i think it's my new favorite place besides Julie's House and Simon Says!

it's really cosy when it's packed with people reading, browsing, drawing, or just chatting and drinking coffee.

after years of waiting, we'll finally have a starbucks in ghent (not so far away from Labath) but i think i'd rather go here instead...

martin petersen came up with this project called 'meow is the time', where the idea is to print the meow design on violet paper and hang it where you feel it fits best.
i don't have violet paper at the moment so i printed it on plain old boring white paper, but i also printed one on transfer paper and ironed it to a totebag.
so now i can take it with me everywhere i go.
martin is one of my favorite photographers, i highly recommend checking his work!

"moobs" - according to urban dictionary:

A combination of the words "man" and "boobs." This is what happens when fat gathers in a male's chest area, and gives him the appearance of having breasts.
Usually seen in overweight males, but can strangely also occur in men who are not really overweight.
jonathan doesn't really have moobs, i just like to tease him. ♥

every year, during spring and fall, i think i'm going bald.
my hair starts to fall out because of the changing season.
when i go through my hair with my hands i usually grab 4-5 strands of hair and that's it.
but it looks to me like i'm carrying ALL my hair in my hands...
